PLEASE NOTE: We are only looking to hire professional models who have experience modeling for artists, sculptors, or other fine arts. We need models who have experience holding a pose and understand the professionalism and physical ability needed for lengthy poses.
What To Expect
ARA Boston appreciates and respects the difficult physical work that modeling requires. We take every care to ensure the comfort of our models. The room temperature, standing mat, padding, and poses are all worked out with the model. We expect our models to arrive on time, bring a robe for breaks, and be prompt about returning to pose after a break. At ARA Boston we welcome and encourage any and all gender identities, races, etc for modeling. All models are required to sign a release form before modeling with us.
If you have never modeled professionally before, we will likely not be contacting you. We have longer than usual poses and prefer experienced professional models who understand the physical and professional demands of fine art modeling.
IF YOU NEED TO CANCEL FOR A JOB, we expect you to contact us immediately with info for your replacement. We understand that emergencies happen. However, if you cancel last minute without a replacement, know that if this is the first time you are working with us or if it happens multiple times, we will not hire you again and you will be placed on our “Do not hire” list.
The Pay
$22 per hour by check at the end of class unless you work multiple classes per week. In this case we pay after your final class of the week. Models who work for ARA are considered contract labor. If your work with us meets or exceeds 20 hours over the course of a calendar year, you will receive a 1099 Misc from us in the mail.
The Poses
We do 20 minute sessions with 5 minute breaks. After the 3rd session of a 2.5 hour class or after the 4th session of a 3 hour class, we take a 15 minute break. Time is kept by the instructor or a chosen student. Some poses may last a single class (2.5 hours), others may span 2 classes, others even longer.
We do not do typical "gesture" drawing poses. Our "Long pose nude" modeling consists of workshops ( 5 hours a day for 1 full week - 30 hours) all the way up to our 100 hour pose. This longest commitment is for our full trimester, long pose class which is 2 days a week, 5 hours each day.
